Chapter 996 Brings Gifts to W. Va. Facilities

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 996 in Lewis County, W. Va., recently brought holiday gifts, warm clothing and care packages to residents of the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center and the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg. VVA has been bringing gifts to the hospital and nursing home for four years; this year, VFW Post 1976 joined in the effort. The organizations also donated $200 to each facility.

“A lot of the veterans that are both in the medical center and also in the nursing home they may not have families to come and visit them and bring them gifts,” Marty Debersig, chapter vice president, told WBOY-TV News. “These are just a small token of our appreciation for the service that they did.”
