Chapter 172 Provides Color Guard at 9/11 Remembrance

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 172 provided a color guard at a ceremony held by Woodmenlife Chapter 6, Cumberland and the Little Orleans (Md.) Volunteer Fire Department, in remembrance of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Woodmenlife dedicated a new flagpole and flag, paid tribute to first responders, and distributed miniature flags to attendees. Since 1947, the organization has presented more than 3.5 million flags.

“Woodmenlife members and associates nationwide organize ‘In Honor and Remembrance’ ceremonies each year,” Woodmenlife’s Emory Davis Jr. told the Cumberland Times-News. ‘‘These ceremonies give members, family and friends a chance to grieve over the lives lost that tragic day and to pay respect to the heroes who responded.”
