Chapter 1091 Mourns Pilot Killed in Afghanistan

Members of Vietnam Veterans of America Ocean City Chapter 1091 joined mourners in paying tribute to United States Air Force Lt. Col. Paul Voss, who died in a plane crash in Afghanistan in January. Dozens of people lined Route 113 in Berlin, Md., Feb 11 to pay their respects to the Virginia native as his remains passed through town.

First responders, veterans and cadets were among those who braved the weather to salute his escort. “We’ve been wet before. There’s not a problem with the weather,” chapter member Bob Gilmore told WMDV-TV. “Come rain or shine, we intended to be here once we heard about his passing here on Route 113.”

The local American Legion spearheaded the event, and agencies including the Delaware State Police, Federalsburg Police, Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Company, Ocean City Fire Department, Ocean Pines, Maryland State Police, Tasley Volunteer Fire Company, Onancock Volunteer Fire Department and Virginia State Police joined.
