Chapter 227 Helps Homeless Veterans, Children

Vietnam Veterans of America Northern Virginia Chapter 227 contributed gift cards to help veterans and children of veterans in the VA Supportive Housing (VASH) Program with back-to-school needs last week. It was the ninth year in a row that the chapter has given to VASH families.

The chapter gave out 59 $75 gift cards to children entering in school for the first time and four $100 gift cards to VASH veterans in educational programs, for a total of $4,825. The chapter says the program fulfills VVA’s founding principle, “Never Again Will One Generation of Veterans Abandon Another.”

The chapter plans to give Christmas holiday gift cards to needy VASH families and single military veterans later this year, and fulfill the “Santa list” of a military family with a spouse in the hospital. To contribute, send a check payable to VVA Chapter 227 and “2019 Holiday Gift Card” in the memo line to: VVA Chapter 227, P.O. Box 5653, Arlington, VA 22205.
