Chapter 982 Contributes to Success of Stand Down Event

The 2016 Santa Barbara County Veteran’s Stand Down in Santa Maria, CA received support from Chapter 982 for its fifth annual event supporting veterans.

Chapter 982 supported the event by distributing hot meals to over 575 veterans ranging in age from 21 to 96. Of that group, there were over 45 women veterans. There were approximately 140 homeless veterans that benefited from the event’s services.

Features of the Stand Down event included more than 90 services in health care, addiction support, GED preparation, job skills training, and other supplies and services.

Over 600 volunteers from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Santa Barbara County Fire Department, Santa Maria Elks, the Santa Barbara County Cattlemen’s Association, the Santa Barbara County Farm Bureau, Sports Clips, Landmark Barbers Shaving Parlor and Lounge, and individuals from other from various organizations throughout the county also contributed to the success of the Stand Down.
