Chapter 1029 Raises ‘Freedom Isn’t Free’ Sign

Chapter 1029 memorial park

Chapter 1029 of Yorktown, TX in Dewitt County has erected a lighted sign off a local highway in Cuero, TX declaring ‘Freedom Isn’t Free’.

The inspiration for establishing the sign arose after establishing a veterans’ memorial in Yorktown in 2012. The chapter wanted to also do something for the Cuero community, which is also located within the boundaries of the county.

After erecting a ‘Freedom Isn’t Free’ Christmas light display, the Cuero Development Corporation decided to maintain the messaging throughout the year. The permanent sign was unveiled during Memorial Day weekend.

Through a successful gun raffle fundraiser, the chapter was able to finance over $4,000 for the sign, as well as $5,000 in scholarships.

Next, with the full support of city officials, Chapter 1029 hopes to further build out the memorial located in Yorktown.
