Vietnam Veterans of America Medina Chapter 385 helped rededicate a war memorial in Medina, Ohio, on Memorial Day. About 150 people attended, although the renovation wasn’t quite complete — some 477 engraved pavers were installed this month. The township and local representatives helped secure a capital grant of $60,000 for the project, and VVA raised another $30,000.
The memorial was originally dedicated on March 27, 1990, and carries the names of 33 veterans from Medina County who died in the Vietnam War. “We owe a great debt of gratitude to those 33 men,” Medina Mayor Dennis Hanwell said at the ceremony. “I apologize for that. Many of them sacrificed their own lives for us.
