Chapter 843 Raising Money to Host Moving Wall

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 843 is raising funds to bring the Moving Wall to Brattleboro, Vt., in September. A replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C., the Moving Wall is 265 feet long and made of 74 black aluminum panels.

The half-sized replica still has a powerful effect, helping unify viewers in sorrow. “It’s very emotional,” chapter President Len Derby told the Brattleboro Reformer. “Seeing all the names … it strikes you. It’s quite a thing to see. It’s unlike any memorial I’ve ever seen.”

Chapter 843 will need to raise $7,500 to pay for the wall’s transport, assembly and security. “We’ve got donations coming in already, but we need more,” Derby said.
