Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 154 conducted its annual 24-hour vigil at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township (Michigan) starting at 2 p.m. on National POW/MIA Recognition Day, Sept. 20.

The vigil called attention to the 48 veterans from Michigan who remain missing, reading their names aloud every hour followed by the ringing of a bell. Hundreds of VVA members and supporters gathered for the ceremony.

The remains of Kenneth W. Likens of Mount Clemens were identified in May, bringing the state’s number of still-unaccounted-for POW/MIAs to 48.

The Michigan Vietnam Veterans Traveling Memorial was on display during the vigil.
