Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 1073 donated American flags to the Washburn School, a K–12 facility in Washburn, Tenn., earlier this month. Students at the school recently began saying the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of each school day, and chapter members Drafus Davidson and Gene Simmons wanted to ensure that each classroom had a flag to salute.
“We are so excited to have the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1073 come to present our students and staff with new American flags,” Assistant Principal Kyle Roach told Grainger Today. “All of our classrooms have flags given to display by the veterans. Each day, we say the pledge at school. We get volunteers from different grade levels each day to help. It promotes a respectful culture.”
