Chapter 073 Escorts Michigan Memorial to Holly Township

Bill Ricketts and Fred Troost of Holland (Mich.) Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 073 transported the Michigan Vietnam Veteran Traveling Memorial to Holly Township for display Sept. 6, escorted by a group of approximately 20 motorcyclists from Grand Blanc.

More than 800 people turned out to visit the memorial, whose appearance was spearheaded by the Holly Area Veterans Resource Center. There are approximately a dozen names on the wall from the surrounding area; Ricketts helped visitors find names using guidebooks that include information on each person listed.

“I’m genuinely moved; I didn’t know what to expect,”  Joe Mishler of the Holly Area Veterans Resource Center told the Tri-County Times. He recognized all seven names on the wall from his hometown, Big Rapids, and may attempt to bring the Moving Wall to the area next. “The wall was a wild success.”
