Chapter 648 Donates to Local Honor Guard

Honor Guard

The Mid Shore Honor Guard was recently gifted a check to purchase jackets by Mid Shore Chapter 648 in Easton, MD.

The group of volunteers and veterans has an established uniform for their presentations, but while performing at gravesides, or other outdoor activities, the need for a standard and uniform outer garment became apparent, particularly during the winter months.

Chapter 648 stepped up and presented the Mid Shore Honor Guard with a check to purchase jackets that will serve the people that service veterans and the Easton community.

A few years ago, an informal group of veterans and volunteers stepped up to fill the gap after members of the armed services no longer had the budget to perform full military honors at funerals and other social events requiring the services of an honor guard.

Today, the honor guard performs flag-folding and presentation, a volleyed rifle gun salute, and the playing of taps on a bugle at schools and scouting meetings, and serves as pallbearers at funerals for free.
