Chapter 227 Salutes VA Medical Center Staff

The Dean K. Phillips Memorial Chapter 227 of Arlington, VA recently fulfilled the holiday need of 64 gift cards of $50 each for area VA Supportive Housing (VASH) veterans and families.

Additionally, over 20 coupons were provided for Hair Cuttery as a donation by the American Red Cross.

In December 2016, Bruce Waxman, Chapter President, and Len Ignatowski, Chapter Vice President, presented the gift cards and hair cut coupons at the Washington DC VA Medical Center (DC VAMC).

Case workers were also presented with chapter challenge coins.

Chapter 227 views the case workers of the DC VAMC as ‘Angels of Mercy’ who support the daily needs of 135 veterans of which 112 are in supportive housing.

The chapter salutes these ‘Angels’ and staff as they show great patience and understanding when dealing with frustrated veterans, un-cooperative landlords, and driving 200 miles in search of an apartment.
