Jewish Americans in Military Service During Vietnam Exhibit in D.C.

“Jewish Americans in Military Service in Vietnam” is the title of a new exhibit that opened May 5 at the National Museum of American Jewish Military History at the headquarters of Jewish War Veterans of the United States in Washington, D.C. The artifact-filled exhibit contains a raft of war memorabilia from Jews who served in the Vietnam War from 1959-75, including uniforms, weapons, books, and photographs.

Two computer terminals feature a CD-ROM produced by the Jewish War Veterans’ National Vietnam Veterans Committee, which contains the stories of 88 Vietnam War veterans, nearly all told in their own voices, and nearly all containing wartime and present-day photos.

The veterans include two Medal of Honor recipients, Retired Army Col. Jack Jacobs and the late USAF Sgt. John Levitow, along with a half dozen Vietnam Veterans of America members, including VVA Veteran Arts Editor and Senior Writer Marc Leepson.

The Museum is open Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 1811 R Street in Washington. For more info, call 202-265-6280 or email nmajmh@nmajmh.org
