Chapter 32 Joins 9/11 Vigil
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 32 participated in a candlelight vigil in Queens, N.Y., to remember the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001. The night featured readings of poems and remembrances, patriotic music and a reading of the names of those killed in the attacks. Local Boy Scout troops, police officers and politicians also appeared.
Speaking about the thousands who suffered long-term health consequences from being near Ground Zero, state Sen. Joe Addabbo Jr. (D-Howard Beach) said, “This is a not a singular historic date in our history. It is an ongoing tragedy that we must always remember and never forget.
“We gather as a community because these days, we need to gather as a community,” he added.
