Chapter 1000 Fundraises for New Memorial

The members of Chapter 1000 of Fort Hood, TX recently began fundraising to build a Vietnam veterans memorial at the Central Texas State veterans cemetery in Harker Heights.

“This memorial will be dedicated to the men and women who died in Vietnam, ” Chapter President Bill Whittaker said.

“We have raised $43, 000 for the memorial, and paid $12, 000 down for the four black granite panels.”

Sculptor Troy Kelley, a Vietnam War veteran who designed and built the Fort Hood Nov 5, 2009, Memorial, will do the design work gratis.
