A Weekend of Commemoration

This Veterans Day weekend, all are invited to join in a series of deeply meaningful events to mark the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Memorial’s dedication. These events are held in honor of the 265,000 brave women—both military personnel and civilians—who served during the Vietnam era. The weekend promises reflection, remembrance, and recognition through several ceremonies and storytelling sessions.

Candlelight Ceremony

• Date & Time: Friday, November 10, 2023, at 6:00 PM
• Location: Vietnam Women’s Memorial statue
• Details: The weekend’s events will commence with a candlelight ceremony at the statue, providing a serene enviroment to reflect on the sacrifices made by countless women during the Vietnam era.

Storytelling Program

• Date & Time: Saturday, Veterans Day, November 11, 2023, from 10:00 AM to noon
• Location: Vietnam Women’s Memorial statue
• Details: This program offers a platform for sharing and listening to profound stories of service and sacrifice, fostering a deeper understanding of the experiences of women who served.

Veterans Day Ceremony: Observance at the Wall

• Date & Time: Saturday, Veterans Day, November 11, 2023, at 1:00 PM
• Location: Vietnam Veterans Memorial
• Details: The annual Observance at the Wall this year will be particularly special, dedicated to commemorating the Vietnam Women’s Memorial’s 30th anniversary. The ceremony will be presided over by Dr. Sharon R. Bannister, Major General, USAF (ret.), with keynote speaker Diane Carlson Evans, founder of the Vietnam Women’s Memorial. Notable speakers also include Jim Knotts and Janis Nark.

These anniversary events, open to all, will unfold on the sacred grounds of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the National Mall. They are not just ceremonies but are avenues to acknowledge and resonate with the experiences, courage, and contributions of women during a pivotal era.
