Veterans Day at the Wall

 

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund will host a ceremony  at 1300 on Veterans Day.

Prior to The Wall ceremony, VVA has sponsored a “Massing of the Colors” in honor of the 40th Anniversary of The Wall. Color guards from chapters and state councils across the country will join us in a salute to those we lost and those of us still surviving….

Reading of the Names

For the 7th time in history, VVMF will host an in-person event where every single name on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is read in order of which it appears on The Wall.  As part of the 40th Anniversary Commemoration, the in-person Reading of the Names will take place in Washington, D.C., at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and begins on November 7, 2022, at 3 p.m. EST.  Thousands of volunteers will come to D.C. to take part in this special event that will end at midnight on November 10, 2022.

Arlington National Veterans Day Ceremony

On Veterans Day, Vietnam Veterans of America will act as the official host of the 69th Veterans Day National Commemoration at Arlington Cemetery, beginning with the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at 11 a.m., followed by an observance in the amphitheater.

VA National Veterans Day Observance

The Veterans Day National Ceremony is held each year on November 11th at Arlington National Cemetery . The ceremony commences precisely at 11:00 a.m. with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by veterans’ organizations and remarks from dignitaries. The ceremony is intended to honor and thank all who served in the United States Armed Forces.

The theme for Veterans Day 2022 is “Honor.”  Veterans are proud of their military service in defending our Nation.  Honor reflects the military value and tradition of answering the call to duty.  There is distinct honor in serving to protect our way of life and the Constitution of the United States of America.

Military Women’s Memorial 25th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony – November 11, 2022, 3:00 p.m. EST

National Native American Veterans Memorial, Dedication and Procession – November 11, 2:00 p.m.

Join the museum in honoring the military service of Native Americans in a formal dedication of the National Native American Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The dedication and processional will honor American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian veterans and their families. Native veterans are invited to participate in a procession along the National Mall from the museum to the ceremony stage in front of the US Capitol. Registration is open to individual veterans and veterans groups. The procession will be livestreamed.


Bells of Peace – National WWI Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Toll “Bells of Peace” on 11/11 at 11am local time, and honor all those who served and sacrificed in WWI.

At 11am a bell will toll 21 times, 5 seconds apart.
This will be followed by a moment of silent reflection.
The Doughboy Foundation will be hosting a Bells of Peace commemoration at the National WWI Memorial in Washington, D.C. starting at 10:30 a.m. Eastern on November 11, 2022. The ceremony will include a wreath dedication, remarks by special guest General Barry McCaffrey, the Bells of Peace tolling, and “Echoing Taps” by Taps For Veterans, where mulitple buglers will play taps from different corners of the WWI Memorial.

Korean War Veterans Memorial

The Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., hosts a Veterans Day Ceremony & Wreath Presentation from 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, to honor all veterans who served in the Korean War. For details, click here.


World War II Memorial

A free ​​Veterans Day observance at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., is scheduled for 9 to 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. The Friends of the National World War II Memorial and the National Park Service will co-host the ceremony to pay tribute and lay wreaths in honor of the more than 16 million men and women who served with the U.S. armed forces during World War II. MUSIC AT THE CATHEDRAL  – Veteran’s Day Concert – Friday, November 11, 7:00 pm

National Veterans Day is an opportunity to honor those who have served in the Armed Forces, celebrate their indomitable spirit and triumph over adversity, and recognize their extraordinary sacrifices for our nation. Join Washington National Cathedral and “The President’s Own” United States Marine Chamber Orchestra for an evening of patriotic and celebratory music, presented in collaboration with Dog Tag Bakery, Team RWB, Hidden Heroes, and other organizations working to support veterans and their families in civilian life.

This concert is free and open to the public.

Veterans History Project Hosts Modern Warrior LIVE at Library of Congress, November 9

Bronze Braille American Flag Dedication – Veterans Park in Baton Rouge, LA

Bronze Braille American Flag honoring those who have lost their sight in service to their country and Plaque honoring Purple Heart recipients, installed at Veterans Park, next to Louisiana Capitol in Baton Rouge. Presentation will be on November 9, 2022 at Veterans Park, donated by Louisiana/Mississippi BVA Regional Group and Purple Heart Association.

Veteran’s Day Parade Virginia Beach

The Hampton Roads Council of Veterans Organizations (HRCVO) hosts the annual Tidewater Veterans Day Parade in Virginia Beach on Friday, 11 November 2022. The parade will begin at 9:00 AM. The parade route will start from the Virginia Beach Oceanfront on Atlantic Avenue and proceed up 17th Street, right turn onto Mediterranean Avenue, then a left turn onto 19th Street up to at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial (across from the Virginia Beach Convention Center).

Brunswick, Maryland, Veterans Day Parade

The Brunswick Veterans Day Parade in Brunswick, Maryland, is one of the oldest in the country. This year, the 90th annual event kicks off at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, with an opening ceremony with a keynote speaker at Square Corner Park, 1 E. Potomac Street. The parade is set to begin at 2 p.m. and the route runs west, down Potomac Street. Click here for details.


Erie, Pennsylvania, Veterans Day Parade

The Erie VA Medical Center will host its annual Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. on the corner of 26th and State Streets, walking south on State Street and ending the Erie VA Medical Center. All veteran supporters are welcome to register and march in the parade; you do not have to be a veteran or part of a veteran-related organization. Worcester, Massachusetts: Worcester Jewish Community Center Veterans Day Tribute

The Worcester Jewish Community Center will host a Veterans Day Tribute from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022. The free event, open to the public, is co-sponsored by the JWV Post 32 and Jewish Federation of Central Massachusetts. Refreshments will be provided following a 45-minute formal ceremony. RSVP here.


O’Fallon, Illinois: Veterans Day Parade

Austin Veterans Day Parade

The Austin, Texas, Veterans’ Day Parade is returning for an in-person event for 2022. It’s scheduled for 9-11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11. Birmingham, Alabama: Veterans Day Parade

Friday, Nov. 11 starting at 11 a.m., the city’s 75th National Veterans Day Parade kicks off along the streets of downtown Birmingham. For details on both events, click here.


Fort Worth, Texas: American VetFest

U.S. military veterans get free entry to The American VetFest celebration at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth from Nov. 10-13, 2022. Musical guests CJ Garton, Creed Fisher, and the Teague Brothers Band will perform Saturday, Nov. 12. The four-day event will also include a battle of the bands, a Field of Flags, veterans service groups, vendor and exhibitor booths, military and civilian vehicle shows, food trucks, and a Heroes sports zone. Fredericksburg, Texas: National Museum of the Pacific War Veterans Day Program

The National Museum of the Pacific War resumes an in-person Veterans Day Program this year with a free program from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, in the Memorial Courtyard. Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Oates, an Army veteran, will be the speaker. Click here for event details.


Houston Veterans Day Ceremony

The annual “Houston Salutes American Heroes Veterans Day Celebration” is planned for Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m near City Hall, 900 Bagby. The ceremony will begin with acknowledgements and a distinguished keynote speaker recognizing local heroes. At the 11th hour on the 11th day, there will be a moment of silence in memory of the 104th anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended WWI. The American Heroes Parade will begin at 11:30 A.M. at Dallas and Bagby and will proceed east on Dallas, north on Louisiana, west on Walker, south on Smith, west on Lamar, ending on Lamar at Bagby. Jacksonville, Florida, Veterans Day Parade

The Jacksonville, Florida, Veterans Day Parade, one of the largest in the Southeast, begins at 11:01 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, downtown. The event includes grand marshals, senior military officials, active-duty and retired military, veterans groups, local high school marching bands, decorative floats, giant balloons, JROTC units and more. New Orleans: National WWII Museum ‘Expressions of America’

The National WWII Museum in New Orleans will premiere an outdoor multimedia experience, “Expressions of America” on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. Actor Gary Sinise hosts the program, which highlights the impact that individuals had during a time of war. The presentation will take place outdoors on the Col. Battle Barksdale Parade Ground and will use projection mapping of the museum’s buildings alongside multimedia technology to feature wartime letters and oral histories. Click here for details.


Orlando Veterans Day Parade

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and his Veterans Advisory Council will honor the courageous men and women of the armed forces at the 23rd annual City of Orlando Veterans Day Parade in downtown Orlando from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022. This year’s parade will open with a tribute to those who have fought for our country and defended our freedom, led by Mayor Dyer and local veterans. The parade’s theme is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAACs) and Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVEs). For details, click here.


Wellington, Florida: Veterans Day Parade & Ceremony

The city of Wellington in western Palm Beach County, Florida, plans its Veterans Day Parade & Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, starting at 8:15 a.m. at the Wellington Patriot Memorial. The city, along with the American Legion Post 390 – Wellington will honor current and former members of the armed forces. Veterans are invited to walk in the parade beginning at 8:15 a.m. at Wellington’s Village Hall, 12300 Forest Hill Boulevard. The parade ends at Wellington’s Veterans Memorial at Forest Hill and South Shore boulevards. For details, click here.


Auburn, Washington, Veterans Parade & Observance

The event takes place on Friday, Nov. 5, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The city of Auburn is a Vietnam War commemorative partner, meaning it has committed to hosting events through 2025 that honor Vietnam veterans and their families, and that meet certain Congressional standards. Auburn’s parade typically boasts more than 200 units and nearly 6,000 parade participants, including 25+ marching bands, military vehicles, veterans units, honor guards and more. Denver Veterans Day Parade

The Denver Veterans Day Parade returns Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, starting at 10 a.m. with a new route around Civic Center Park. Hosted by the Colorado Veterans Project (CVP), the event provides an opportunity for civilians, veterans and uniformed military to showcase patriotism, celebrate and commemorate U.S. service members, while also raising funds for veterans’ organizations across Colorado. Admission is free. The parade will feature marching bands, a variety of veterans organizations, military reenactments, an assortment of vintage and military-era vehicles and more. Lincoln/Sheridan, California: American Legion Post, VFW Post Ceremonies

The American Legion Post 264 Lincoln, California, and VFW Post 3010 — Lincoln/Sheridan, California, plan to hold joint ceremonies on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at four cemeteries: Sheridan, Manzanita, Lincoln and Santa Clara Memorial Park. Color Guard and Rifle Squad honors will begin the day’s events by visiting the graves of veterans at each cemetery. A service will be given at each of the four cemeteries in remembrance of those who served. The schedule begins at 9 a.m. at Sheridan, then 10 a.m. at Manzanita, 11:30 a.m. at Lincoln and ends at Santa Clara Memorial Park. The largest ceremony is held at Lincoln’s First Street Cemetery, with a guest speaker and choir singing patriotic songs. For details, view the Facebook event.


Phoenix Veterans Day Parade

An estimated 45,000 spectators will attend as the city of Phoenix honors veterans on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The parade starts at Montebello and Central runs southbound, then turns East on Camelback Road, and then turns South on 7th Street. Click here for details.


Prescott, Arizona, Veterans Day Parade

Prescott, Arizona, will host its 2022 Veterans Day Parade downtown on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, with opening ceremonies beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the stage at Cortez and Union streets. The parade is set to begin at 11 a.m. Click here for details.


San Jose, California, Veterans Day Parade

The city of San Jose, California, will host its 104th consecutive Veterans Day Parade downtown on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, in honor of those who served in the armed forces of the United States. Simi Valley, California: Ronald Reagan Presidential Library

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, will host its annual Veterans Day Event on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Activities include an honor guard, live music, and remarks by keynote speaker and U.S. Army veteran Brad Taylor, a retired Special Forces lieutenant colonel and current bestselling author of the Pike Logan series.
