Mike Demske served on U.S. Navy Patrol Craft Fast – Swift Boats from February 1968 until September 1969. He was in the Mekong delta for the first 15 months. Admiral Elmo Zumwaldt was head of the Navy in Vietnam and ordered the use of defoliants along the water ways that his group patrolled.
Mike is a Life Member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. He served as President of Chapter 731 Manitowoc County. He was also part of the Wisconsin State Council, Co-Chair of the Agent Orange Committee and has conducted about 20 Agent Orange Town Hall Meetings.
He is also a Life Member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 152, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 24, VFW Post 659 and Amvets Post 99.
Mike is presently 70% disabled because of his exposure. Both his son Scott and his son David both experienced great health issues as a result of the exposure through Mike. Because of these effects on his family and himself, he has chosen to be a voice for awareness on the issues brought upon by exposure in Vietnam.
