Experimental Housing for Incarcerated Vets

A prison unit at Stafford Creek Corrections Center in Aberdeen, Wash., houses around 130 veterans as part of a pilot project launched by the Washington State Department of Corrections. Inmates must be free of serious infractions for six months and not have a dishonorable discharge to live there. Department surveys show that 8.7 percent of inmates incarcerated in Washington state prisons are veterans.
