The Thomas A. Mangino Chapter 157 spearheaded efforts to have a portion of Main Street in Alliance, OH to be renamed Thomas A. Mangino Memorial Parkway, after the local MIA Vietnam veteran.
The date of the dedication occurred on the 50th anniversary of Mangino and his squad’s status as missing in action.
Thomas Mangino’s brothers, Steve and Mike, were present during the dedication in which the mayor proclaimed April 21 as Thomas A. Mangino Day in Alliance.
The new Mangino Memorial Parkway was an idea of Chapter 157 member Bob Akins who realized that there was no gravesite for Mangino in order to pay respects and remember his life.
