Liberty Chapter 789 donated kitchen items and other things for homeless veterans in Hinesville, GA.
The Hinesville Housing Authority is designating five one-bedroom homes for homeless veterans starting in July.
Male veterans will reside in the apartments while their benefits claims are being processed, typically for six to nine months. The apartment units are also near an Outpatient VA clinic to help the veterans get the health care they need.
The new, unfurnished homes are in need of household furnishings donations. Liberty Chapter 789 and community organizations such as Disabled American Veterans have responded to the call to assist the effort to relieve the increasing amount of homeless veterans in Hinesville.
In 2018, the Hinesville Housing Authority hopes to break ground for a 28-apartment building for female veterans and their children, and veteran families.
