VVA Chapter 628 of Princeton, West Virginia facilitated a generous food and monetary donation to Bluefield Union Mission to cover families in need during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Students in Mercer County and Tazewell County schools held food drives to collect canned goods and other nonperishable food. Chapter members gathered the food and delivered it to the Bluefield Union Mission.
Chapter 628 delivered 7,960 food items from the schools’ food drives. The chapter was also able to present a check of $6,200 to the Union Mission.
The other organizations that contributed to the monetary donation included the local chapters of the Marine Corps League, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Disabled American Veterans, as well as veterans affiliated with the Princeton Veterans Center.
