In February, students at Glen Peters School in Macomb, Mich. showed their love for Vietnam veterans by creating almost 300 cards to be given to veterans on Valentine’s Day. The entire school took part in the project, which started after students arrived back in school from winter break.
To collect the cards, members of VVA Chapter 154 of Roseville, Mich. came to the school in full uniform. Arriving at 10 a.m. on Feb. 6, members of Chapter 154 marched through the school’s hallways carrying their flags as students looked on.
After the march concluded, a student and teacher sang “God Bless America, ” and the school’s assistant principal presented the cards to the veterans. The valentine wishes were much appreciated, as Chapter 154 took the cards to the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, where they were handed out to veterans on Valentine’s Day.
