Chapter 1084 Enhances Education of St. Augustine Students

VVA Leo C. Chase Chapter 1084 members Patrick Favale and Blair Craig worked with school officials to create programming on military appreciation for students in St. Augustine, FL

Chapter 1084’s Veterans in the Classroom program exposes students of all grades to patriotic values and military history.

Favale became the chapter’s Classroom Veterans Committee Chairman after expressing a desire to integrate more meaningfully with the students of the St. Johns County School District.

Favale and Craig teamed up with the St. Johns County Board of Education and began to receive requests to help make the school curriculum requirements come alive for the students.

Craig and John Leslie participated in delivering lessons at Sebastian Middle School for “Constitution Week” on September 21st.

On November 8th, Bob Dinkins made a presentation to second grade students at Turning Point Christian Academy.

For Veterans Day, five chapter members delivered lessons on the meaning of the holiday, and its differences with Memorial Day and Armed Forces Day to four high schools. Their presentations also included suggestions on how to recognize veterans and how to thank a veteran for his or her service.

Members of the chapter that are involved with Veterans in the Classroom have made presentations at six county schools on three occasions.

Chapter 1084 has enhanced the educational experience for 1,500 students in St. Johns County.
