(Washington, DC) – Speaking on behalf of those Vietnam veterans living in the deep South, Dr. Wayne Reynolds of Athens, Alabama, who has served for 19 years as president of the Alabama State Council, and was recently reelected to a fifth two-year term as Vietnam Veterans of America’s national treasurer, condemns Saturday’s violence in Charlottesville, Virginia:
“We Vietnam Veterans residing in the South stand united on the principles of the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights, and as such, we wish to dispel any notion that we are part of the fringe lunatic group–those neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and wanna-be KKKers–whose violence resulted in three deaths.
