Ticketed events include Evening Reception Honoring Maya Lin, Designer Of The Wall; and, Breakfast And Discussion With Lynn Novick, Co-Director Of The Vietnam War. The Reading of the Names will take place in 65 hours over a four day period. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. is located along Constitution Avenue between 21st and 23rd Streets, northeast of the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall. Plan to join us as we remember and honor those who served in the U.S. armed forces. The Keynote Speaker will be Former Secretary of Defense, The Honorable Chuck Hagel. Maya Lin, architect and sculptor, designer of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial will deliver special remarks. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. is located along Constitution Avenue between 21st and 23rd Streets, northeast of the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall. The Annual Harker Heights Veterans Ceremony is sponsored by the City of Harker Heights and the Harker Heights Veterans’ Council. Features include a wreath laying, guest speaker Lt. Col. James R. Crane, deputy commander of the 3rd Cavalry Regiment (Brave Rifles), and remarks by Harker Heights Mayor Spencer H. Smith. VVA Chapter 1000 is a member of The Harker Heights Veterans’ Council. Members of VVA Chapter 946 will participate in the City of Cumming’s Veterans War Memorial Veterans Day Ceremony. There will be a playing of Taps, a 21 gun salute, and a color guard. The rain location is Cumming Fairgrounds’ covered arena.

Chapter 400 will host their third annual Veterans Day Picnic. There will be a dedication of Alameda’s American Flag Retirement drop box, food, and a viewing of the documentary film “Finally A Voice.” The picnic is free and open to all. For more information, visit www.vvachapter400.org.

Chapter 446 will join city officials and other veteran and community groups to a free Veterans Day Ceremony at the Pasadena City Hall. The special occasion will feature a military fly-over in formation at 11:11 a.m., guest speaker Retired U.S. Army Col. Keith Nightingale, military vehicles displays, and free refreshments.

Chapter 850, Dover, DE

All are welcome to attend Kent County Chapter 850’s Veterans Day event. The keynote speaker will be two-time Bronze Star recipient Retired Lt. Col. Marybel H. ‘Mary’ Johnson. The event will be held at the Kent County Veterans Memorial Park on South Little Creek Road in Dover.

All are invited to the Annual Veterans Day Celebration. Features include veteran exhibits, free hot dogs, and live music by The Doo Wop Guys, and bracelets with each branch of the armed services for sale. Chapter 566 will be one of the exhibitors. Des Plaines Chapter 311 and the American Legion Post 36 will sponsor a Veterans Day ceremony.

Chapter 940, Enid, OK

Chapter 940 along with Blue Star Mothers are hosting the Veterans Day parade in downtown Enid, OK, ending at the Woodring Wall of Honor and Veterans Park, Inc. The parade will start at 10 a.m. at the downtown Square. There will be over 30 bands, veterans groups, and other members of the community. There will also be a Veterans Day ceremony at Woodring Wall of Honor and Veterans Park at 11:30 a.m., and a Veterans Day concert and dance at the Enid Moose Lodge, 302 E. Purdue at 6:30 p.m.

Chapter 528 invites the public to a Veterans Day ceremony at Veterans Memorial in Heritage Park, near the former Central Middle School at Church and Main streets.

Bring your family and friends out for Chapter 154’s open house at the Veterans Support Center. The community will have the opportunity to see what the veterans do on a daily basis. Also, VVA Chapter 154’s hospitalized veterans committee will collect children’s handmade cards for inpatients and outpatients; and, socks and coats for homeless veterans. Holland Area Veterans Council with Chapter 73 will host their annual Veterans Day Program in the auditorium of The Commons of Evergreen. There will books for each of the names etched on the Michigan Vietnam Wall. The free event will include music and a history of Veterans Day.

Chapter 31 founding member Lupe Alviar Jr. will be the keynote speaker for the Veterans Day Remembrance ceremony. The presentation of colors will start at 11 a.m., and there will also be a traditional wreath laying ceremony, and a 21 gun salute.

Plan to join Chapter 1022 for Veterans Day activites in Richmond County. At 11AM, there will be a celebration of our local veterans, and free food. At 1PM, bring the family for the Veterans Day parade with floats and marching bands. At 3PM, the opening ceremony will feature an address by County Commission Chair Kenneth Robinette, a 21-gun salute, and the playing of taps. Rutland County, VT Chapter 1 will rededicate the Rutland County Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Main Street Park. The brief ceremony will include remarks by Rutland Mayor David Allaire. The new monument will bear 343 names.
