LOC’s Veterans and the Arts — Stories from the Veterans History Project

The Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project—a massive collection of recorded oral, written, and photographic personal accounts of American war veterans—recently unveiled a web feature called the Veterans and the Arts Showcase Companion. It’s a compendium of the personal history contributions to the Project from veteran writers, musicians, artists, and other creative folks.

“Here, we focus on nine veterans who found personal solace and professional fulfillment in fields ranging from creative writing to theater, music, ceramics, and even the culinary arts,” the project’s website notes. “No matter the medium, for all of these veterans, creating art helped ease their transition to civilian life after serving.”
