Danny Greathouse, army specialist and president of the Vietnam Veterans of America Southern Utah Chapter 961, appeared at the second annual Missing Man/POW Remembrance Ceremony hosted by the Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine Southern Utah at the Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins.
Speakers at the October event included Martha Bigbie, Air Force sergeant and commander of American Legion Post 90; Don Francis, Navy commander and chaplain at the veterans home; and Clinton E. Adams, president and CEO of Rocky Vista. Rocky Vista military students presented the colors before a symbolic ceremony featuring an empty plate, a slice of lemon, a pinch of salt and an inverted glass.
A keynote address was delivered by Ginamarie Foglia, professor of primary care medicine at Rocky Vista. Tony Moore, an officer with the Utah Department of Veterans Affairs, accepted a military medallion on behalf of Southern Utah Veterans Home for its exemplary service. “We are thrilled to receive this award from Rocky Vista University,” Moore said in a release. “Our relationship benefits our veteran residents, your medical students, both of our staffs and the community as a whole.”
