Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 957 in Williamsburg, Va., held a National Vietnam War Veterans Day ceremony on March 29 to commemorate and recognize all area Vietnam War veterans. Open to the public, the event was intended to be a belated “welcome home” to those who served.
Vietnam veteran and retired Air Force pilot Jim Icenhour, chairman of the James City County Board of Supervisors, presided over the ceremony. He read a Certificate of Recognition from the state of Virginia aloud and presented 50-year Vietnam War commemorative pins to the Vietnam veterans in attendance.
The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017 designates March 29 as National Vietnam War Veterans Day.
