Chapter 886 Plants Field of Flags

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 886 placed a field of flags at Union Point Park in New Bern, N.C., ahead of the town’s Veterans Day events. The field included more than 400 flags, each tagged with the name of a fallen veteran.

“One of the beautiful things about this is it is by no means a celebration,” member Rick Miller told New Bern’s WITN-TV. “One of the members of my chapter described the field of flags as a silent memorial.”

As part of the display, the chapter encourages visitors to leave a donation, which goes toward helping veterans in Craven County.
