Chapter 840 Seeks Virginia KIAs’ Relatives

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 840 in Halifax County, Va., is searching for the family members of long-deceased Vietnam veterans Raymond C. Lawson and Charley A. Wilborn in order to give them shadow boxes commemorating their service.

Lawson, a member of F Co., Second Battalion, 3rd Marines, was killed in action on Feb. 9, 1968, and Wilborn, a CACO 2-1, 2nd CAG and fellow Marine, was killed in action on Oct. 5, 1970. They are among the 14 area service members killed during the conflict.

The shadow boxes usually contain medals and awards, flags of the United States and branch of service, and the location of the veteran’s name on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C.

“Hopefully, we can present these shadow boxes within the month to these families,” chapter member Coleman told The Gazette-Virginian.
