Chapter 840 Launches Bluegrass Festival

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 840 organized the first-ever Bluegrass-n-Wheels Festival September 28 at the Keystone Truck & Tractor Museum in Colonial Heights, Va.

The weekend event drew hundreds of people for a day of burgers, bologna and hot dogs and live bluegrass from the bands Back 40 Drive, Franklin Station and Appalachian Express.

Money raised at the event will go toward Vietnam veterans in need, helping build necessary home modifications such as wheelchair ramps, and helping vets with transportation to medical appointments.

“Our chapter appreciates this opportunity to raise funds to support our outreach projects,” chapter member Bradley Hudson told the Progress-Index. “Vietnam veterans are proud people — they don’t ask for help. We hear of their needs through the grapevine and do what we can to help them.”
