Chapter 71 Banquet Recognizes 200 Veterans

Vietnam Veterans of America Lary D. Fogle Chapter 71 recently honored more than 200 veterans at the Annual Trinity Christian Center Veterans Banquet in Lawrenceburg, Ind., on May 18. More than 500 people attended the banquet; other sponsors included Korean War Veterans Chapter 4, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 75, Perfect Family and State Rep. Randy Frye (R-67th), and Celeste Calvitto.

Rick Pieper emceed the event, and Chapter 71 member P.G. Gentrup briefed the crowd on the activities area veterans have participated in over the last year. They included veterans’ trips to Washington, D.C., Wright Patterson Air Force Base, and the WWII, Korea and Vietnam Memorials in Indianapolis; veterans also helped plan new memorials, provided assistance to disabled veterans and contributed funeral details.

Gentrup spoke about a classmate who was killed in Vietnam, Lary D. Fogle, and introduced numerous honorees. Six veterans received Quilts of Valor from the Rivertown Quilters Club, and Missy Halloran King and Kathy Halloran accepted of plaques in honor in memory of Big Joe Halloran.
