Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 704 says that construction of a proposed Vietnam veterans war memorial in the Cayuga County county city of Brutus, N.Y., is underway. The pieces of black granite set to form the memorial are being polished and engraved in Canada being polished and engraved, and work will begin on the base this spring.
An “In Memory” section has a been added to the memorial to honor men and women who served in the war and passed away as a result of their service. Anyone from Cayuga County who served and died from issues such as Agent Orange, PTSD, Parkinson’s, heart disease, cancer or diabetes is eligible to be included.
