Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 682 will place a street sign honoring Capt. Paul Urquhart, who was listed missing in action after his helicopter was shot down in 1971, as part of its MIA Memorial Street Sign Project.
“It caught fire, and he was gone,” Bob Weismantle, the Navy veteran who proposed the honor, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “We have no idea what happened to him.”
Pittsburgh approved the placement of an honorary sign at Peters St. and Oakwood Road, where Capt. Paul Urquhart lived before his deployment. The sign will feature Capt. Urquhart’s name, branch of service, rank and MIA status.
“Those guys are forgotten about. They gave their life,” Weismantle said.
