Chapter 373’s Stempel Named Enterprise Veteran of the Year

The Enterprise (Ala.) Veterans Parade Committee recently named Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 373 member Conrad Stempel its 2019 Veteran of the Year. Stempel was honored for his service at the annual Enterprise Veterans Parade on Nov. 7 alongside Service Member of the Year Russell Smith.

“Their record of service speaks for itself, as does their commitment and love for the military, their community and their country,” said Committee Chairman Otis Smith Jr., commander of VFW Post 6683. “We are proud to have them both in our community.”

Stempel served 20 years in the U.S. Army, including as a team leader of Mobile Advisory Team 1 in Vietnam. Since leaving the service, he has been active in organizations including the Enterprise Lions Club, American Legion Post 73, and VFW Post 6683. Stempel has been instrumental in the Wounded Veterans Cabin project, which established a vacation spot on Lake Tholocco where wounded and disabled veterans can stay free of charge.
