Chapter 32 Joins Queens Memorial Day Vigil

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 32 participated in an annual Memorial Day vigil for fallen soldiers in Maspeth Memorial Park in Queens, N.Y. The chapter provided an Honor Guard for the ceremony, which has now been staged for over 50 years.

Originally led by the Women’s Auxiliary, the vigil invites local female civic leaders to carry candles and students from nearby schools to lead attendees in song.

“It was overwhelming,” Ken Rudzewick, former president and CEO of sponsor Maspeth Federal Savings, told QNS. “The best part about it is it was interwoven with all the young people of Maspeth. They’re the people that are going to carry on our great traditions.”
