Chapter 240 Posts Colors at Tree Planting

Vietnam Veterans of America Sumner County Chapter 240 posted colors at a November 17 ceremony dedicating a tree and marker at the Hendersonville (Tenn.) Memorial Gardens in honor of the nation’s veterans.

Spearheaded by the local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR)), the event featured speakers and performances of the National Anthem and Taps. VFW Post 9851 and the Hendersonville Parks Department assisted.

The DAR planted a Tulip Poplar tree — Tennessee’s state tree — and unveiled a granite marker to celebrate the lives and service of American veterans and active duty military. “This tree was dedicated November 2019 in honor of the brave Americans who have served our country in times of war and peace,” the marker reads.
