Chapter 227 Donates Back-to-School Gift Cards

VVA Chapter 227, the Dean K. Phillips Memorial Chapter of Northern Virginia in Arlington, recently donated 60 gift cards to children of veterans in the Veterans Administration Supportive Housing (VASH) program. Each worth $75, the gift cards are intended to help pay for school supplies and other essentials for the new school year. This is the eighth year that the chapter has given gift cards to students.

The VASH program is a joint effort between the federal departments of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Veterans Affairs (VA) to assist homeless veterans and their families in transitioning from homelessness into affordable, stable lodging. VA case managers serve more than 100 veterans and their families in Northern Virginia.

The chapter will also provide holiday gift cards to needy VASH families at Christmastime. Anyone wishing to contribute to the holiday program can mail a check payable to VVA Chapter 227 and “2018 Holiday Gift Card” on the memo line to: VVA Chapter 227, P.O. Box 5653, Arlington, VA 22205.
