The Chattanooga, Tenn., Area Veteran’s Council recently held its annual awards banquet at the Walden Club in downtown Chattanooga, recognizing Charlie Hobbs, chapter president of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 203 with a commendation and a $50 gift certificate for his outstanding leadership and assistance to all veterans in the greater Chattanooga area.
Each year, the Chattanooga Area Veteran’s Council recognizes individuals in the community devoted to veterans and presents awards to a select few who have gone above and beyond in their service and support. U.S. Air Force Col. (Ret.) Chris Dooley presented two special awards to recognize the outstanding service of two veterans. Army Lt. Col. (Ret.) Bob Kincaid, president and co-founder of Get Veterans Involved (GVI) also received a commendation and gift certificate.
This year’s guest speaker was Tennessee Army National Guard Colonel (Ret.) and former Tennessee Department of Veteran Services Commissioner Many Bears Grinder. She spoke at length about the achievements made for veterans over the last eight years, family legacies of military service and sacrifice, and goals established to provide continued support for military families. Special guests included U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-Tenn.) and Tennessee state Sen. Todd Gardenhire (R-10th).
