Chapter 203 President Hobbs Wins Commendation

Charlie Hobbs, chapter president of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 203, was recognized with a commendation and a $50 gift certificate for his outstanding leadership and assistance to veterans in the greater Chattanooga (Tenn.) area at the annual Chattanooga Area Veteran’s Council awards banquet in March.

Each year, the Chattanooga Area Veteran’s Council recognizes individuals in the community who have gone above and beyond in their service and support to area veterans. Special guests at the event included U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-Tenn.) and Tennessee Sen. Todd Gardenhire (R-10th).

This year’s guest speaker was Tennessee Army National Guard Col. (Ret.) and former Tennessee Department of Veteran Services Commissioner Many Bears Grinder, who spoke about the achievements made for veterans over the last eight years, family legacies of military service and sacrifice, and goals established to provide continued support for military families.

Other award-winners included Army Lt. Col. Bob Kincaid, president and cofounder of Get Veterans Involved; Stacy Kehoe, regent for the Judge David Campbell Chapter, National Society of Daughter of the American Revolution; Navy Capt. (Ret.) Mickey McCamish, president of the Military Officer Association of America’s Chattanooga Chapter; and Alan Syler, a past chairman of the Chattanooga Area Veterans Council.
