Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 172 recently joined the Cumberland (Md.) Goes to War Festival by planning a “Good Evening Vietnam” concert. The Allegany County Historical Society recently revived the event — long a tribute to WWII veterans only — as a tribute to anyone in Western Maryland involved in a 20th century overseas conflict.
Held Sept. 26–29, the citywide event featured a military display at the Allegany Museum, a deployment by Fort Detrick’s 21st U.S. Army Signal Brigade, a “History In Your Attic” open house, an Experimental Aircraft Association Breakfast Fly-In and Car Show, roundtable discussions with veterans, and more.
