Middletown, N.J., Mayor Tony Perry and the Township Committee named Dennis Beauregard its 2019 Distinguished Citizen of the Year on Jan. 21. Beauregard is the Middletown Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman and president of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 12.
Beauregard has spearheaded a number of projects on behalf of veterans, including the rededication of a local World War I monument, the 50th Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home Picnic and the township’s Fallen Veterans Commemorative Street Sign Program.
Known as “The Colonel,” Beauregard was also the driving force behind the donation of 17 POW/MIA flags to local schools and firehouses, and the Chapter 12 Veterans Cremains Project. “We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated, reliable and talented individual as one of Middletown’s own,” a release said.
