Chapter 1117 Helps Dedicate County Memorial

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1117 helped dedicate a Vietnam Memorial Wall Jan. 14 on the ground floor of the Marion County (Ohio) Building. The wall honors 26 Marion County men who lost their lives during the Vietnam War.

“We’re here today to honor our heroes, to remember their achievements, their courage and their dedication, and to say thank you for their sacrifices,” said Mike Galyk, chaplain of VFW Post 7201 and a member of American Legion Post 162, fellow sponsors.

Also supporting the establishment of the memorial were Geran Thomas VFW Post 3313, Harold Bradley American Legion Post 584, AmVets Post 138, the Memorial Day & Veterans Day Association, Wood Plus, Richard Holycross, Ohio Laser Creations LLC, Marion Community Credit Union, and the Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.
