Chapter 1095 Helps Dispose of Worn Flags

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1095 held its annual Flag Day ceremony June 15 in Delaware, Ohio, to teach locals the significance of the flag and help dispose of worn and tattered flags properly. Following a presentation about flag etiquette, chapter members disposed of worn American flags by burning them.

The chapter led a flagpole demonstration and explained why the flag should be folded in a triangle (for portability). “With most activities that we do that are patriotically-related, we try to educate the public,” chapter President Harold Wolford told the Delaware Gazette. “That’s why we have a couple of pamphlets of condensed information to give out on flag etiquette.”

The chapter collects used flags throughout the year from Delaware County fire stations and and private citizens.
