Chapter 1051 Member’s Service Spotlighted

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1051 member Greg Lowe recently spent a Wednesday morning scrubbing the replica Vietnam Memorial Wall at the Elizabethtown (Ky.) Nature Park with a group of volunteers, making sure the tribute was in pristine condition for visitors.

Lowe was one of the local veterans who spearheaded fundraising for and construction of the replica memorial, completed last year. The name of his college roommate and fraternity brother, Charles F. Thomas IV, appears on the wall, and Lowe escorted his friend’s cremains home.

Lowe helps organize town hall events throughout the state, educating attendees on the effects of Agent Orange. He also serves as co-chairman on the Hooray for Heroes committee, which organizes an annual event honoring active and retired military personnel, first responders, and their families.

“When Greg sees a need, he steps up to fill those empty spots,” Chapter 1051 President David Cowherd told  the Elizabethtown News-Enterprise.
