Chapter 1009 Supports Community

Vietnam Veterans Of America Chapter 1009 in Corsicana, Texas, has been heralded by the Athens Daily Review for its actions to support the community.
The chapter recently donated $500 to the local Red Cross to support the area’s Volunteer Fire Departments. “We felt this was they best way to help all of the departments, since there are 26 in Navarro County,” chapter President Vernon Strebeck told the news outlet.

The chapter has also donated $1,200 to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts recently, and awarded scholarships totaling up to $3,000 to Corsicana High School students.

The chapter’s next fundraiser will be held on April 27 during the local Derrick Days festival, raffling off a 55-inch Toshiba Ultra 4K television. “Corsicana, if you have time, open your hearts but most importantly, your wallets and help out our local veterans,” said member Ronny Willis.
