At-Large Director

Kerwin B. Stone

At-Large Director

I practiced law in Beaumont, Texas, from 1978 until my recent retirement in 2020. My practice included corporate law, contracts, banking, and real estate. My older son, a retired Air Force fighter pilot, flies for United Airlines; my younger son is a Methodist pastor. I am blessed with four marvelous grandchildren. I am a Christian and an active member of my church.

I earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in mathematics from Southern Methodist University; received my commission in the Air Force in 1969; and entered active duty with the Air Force in 1970. I was assigned to Ko Kha AS, Thailand, in 1972. I separated as a Captain in 1975 and went to law school at The University of Texas on the GI Bill.

I joined VVA as a life member in 1993. I was Treasurer of Chapter 292 for six years and have served as its President since 2005. Following four years as Secretary and four years as Vice President, I served as President of the Texas State Council from 2018 until 2021. I have served as an At-Large Member of VVA’s National Board of Directors since 2015 and as a member of VVA’s Finance Committee since 2019. I served as a member of VVA’s Working Group II, charged with the task of examining in depth the challenges which VVA will be facing in the coming years. I have also served as Secretary of the Vietnam Veterans Assistance Foundation of Texas since 2010.  I am an Agent Orange victim.  VVA is both a family and a passion for me.

I have formed hundreds of organizations and have assisted in the winding down (or dissolution) of a number of organizations, as well. I have served on the Boards of many companies (both for-profit and nonprofit) and as a school board Trustee. My experience, both as a lawyer and as a proud VVA member, can help make VVA a better organization, ready to face the future.
