At-Large Director

Charles R. Montgomery, Jr.

At-Large Director

I, Charles R. Montgomery Jr., Life Member of Chapter 969, am seeking the position of VVA At-Large Director. I joined VVA in January 1987 and have been actively involved since that time. I have served as At-large Director, as Region III Director, and as National Membership Committee Chair.

I served for six terms as the Chair of the Conference of State Council Presidents and have served as the Virginia State Council President since 1995. I also served two terms with the Vietnam Veterans Assistance Fund. I have devoted much of my time and energy to all levels of VVA. We have many more important issues to still address and continue to work on, especially for the future of VVA. I would like to work and support this organization in any way possible in these endeavors.

I proudly served in the US Army with the 173d ABN BDE in Vietnam from 1969-70. I finished my military service with the 82nd ABN DIV from 1970-71. Since that time, I retired in 2011 from the City of Norfolk, Virginia, with 40 years of service. I am happily married to my wife, Nancy, for 26 years.

I promise to continue to serve you as I have in past years. Let’s keep building this to be a strong organization and work together as a team. I am well qualified to lead our organization in the right direction. I adhere to the advice of one of our past Presidents, “Be true to yourself, and be true to the ones you serve.”
